The Story House 2016 Available Bursary

The Story House Ireland is a not-for-profit residential writing centre inspired by The Arvon Foundation. A Poetry Course will be run on the grounds of  Borris House, Co. Carlow from 11th to 16th April 2016 with tutors Nessa O’ Mahoney and Peter Sirr. The all inclusive cost is €700. See www.thestoryhouseireland.org for full details. The Story House aims to provide real support for developing writers of all ages and backgrounds, complementing the work of existing writing centres.  The purpose of this bursary is to support the professional development of writers based in Tipperary.

For the 2nd year, the Arts Office, Tipperary County Council is awarding a bursary of €500 to a Tipperary writer to attend The Story House 2016. Any balances due are the sole responsibility of the recipient. This bursary includes accommodation in a shared facility, meals and all literary tuition (sole use of a bedroom will be assigned). Please note that bursary recipients must take up the accommodation option to avail of the immersion experience in The Story House. Travel arrangements are the responsibility of the applicant. The bursary does not include any optional extras should they arise. This bursary is non transferrable. Tipperary County Council reserve the right not to award any bursaries under this scheme. You must be currently resident within Tipperary County Council’s administrative area for a period of no less than 3 years to apply for this grant aid. Evidence of residency may be requested.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or over on the opening day of The Story House Residency Programme.

Recipients of the Story House Bursary 2015, cannot enter for the current 2016 bursary. 

The successful recipient will be informed in writing. The grant will be paid directly to the Story House on the recipients’ behalf.  Payment will not issue until the Story House have confirmed that you have paid any balance involved and attended the course. A short written report of your experience at the Story House must be submitted to the Arts Office on completion of the course.

Applications will be assessed by an independent panel. Their decision will be final.
