Spleodar Nenagh Community Arts Festival

'Spleodar - Nenagh Community Arts Festival' is back with another fun filled exciting week of events for all the family from Monday 28th - Thursday 31st October 2013.

The annual Spleodar Festival brings life, light and laughs to Nenagh in an annual splurge of creativity and arty-type activity for all the family. Banish the incoming winter blues for just one more week as Halloween rolls in and the ghosts and ghouls come out to play. Witness the antics of our performers, jugglers and clowns; take part in a workshop or two; come to a film, a show or just soak in the Spleodar atmosphere. 

Monday 28th October

The festival kicks off on Monday 28th October with "The Lives of Birds" exhibition by Killaloe based artist Lynn Kelly in the Nenagh Arts Centre. Lynn uses her own signature techniques of working with materials which combines her love of stitch, fabrics, paint and recycled papers. This is a free event and the exhibition runs until 15th November. 

Fidget Feet will present "The Elves and the Shoemaker" in the Arts Centre with shows at 12.00pm and 3.30pm. This event is for children aged 4 - 10. Admission €10 per child (includes performance and workshop) €5 per adult.

In the New Institute there will be "One Directiom" themed Hip Hop Dance Workshops at 10.00am for children aged 4 - 6 and at 11.15am and 2.30pm for children aged 7 - 12. Tickets €5.

"Cúl Crafts le Eilís" takes place at 11.30am in Conradg na Gaeilge - Dun Mhuire, Pearse Street. This is an arts and crafts class for children aged 3 - 5. Tickets €5.

Nenagh Castle is available for FREE guided tours from Monday to Thursday at 2.00pm.

Tuesday 29th October

Fidget Feet provide Aerial Workshops at 10.00am and 12.00pm in the Arts Centre for children aged 8+ and at 2.30pm for children aged 4 - 8. Here you will learn to fly like circus performers. Tickets €5.

Púca Puppets presents Béirín Beag Buí at 2.00pm and 4.45pm in the Arts Centre for children aged 3 - 7. Children are are asked to bring their favourite teddy and pillow. Tickets €5.

Conradg na Gaeilge - Dun Mhuire, Pearse Street will hold a Creepy Composers Music Workshop at 12.00pm for children aged 5 - 7 and 2.30pm for children aged 7 - 12. This is a Halloween themed music class which involves listening, performing and composing. Tickets €5.

Wednesday 30th October

Dreamtrain is a performance for 2 - 4 year olds created by Acting Up. This show includes a performance and art activity and takes place in the Library at 11.30am and 2.00pm. This is a free event with tickets available 15 minutes before each show.

The Arts Centre will host "Little Bigtop: Circus Skills Workshops at 10.00am for children aged 4 - 6, at 11.30am for aged 7 - 9 and at 2.00pm for aged 10 - 12. Tickets cost €5 and the children will learn how to juggle, spin plates etc.

Alan Corbett will host Comic Book Workshops in the Heritage Centre at 10.00am for children aged 8 - 12 and at 12.00pm for children aged 4 - 6. Tickets €5.

Thursday 31st October

Haunted Tours will take place in the Heritage Centre at 11.30am and 2.00pm for children under 7 and at 12.45pm and 3.15pm for children aged 7+. Tickets €5.

Suzannah O'Reilly will host Print Workshops at the Arts Centre at 10.00am for children aged 9 -11, at 12.00pm for aged 12 - 14 and at 2.30pm for aged 5 - 8. Tickets €5.

Ireland's most advanced Mobile Planetarium the "Exploration Dome" will be at the Arts Centre. There are two shows designed to explore science and astronomy in a fun interactive way.

Dynamic Earth takes place at 10.00am, 11.00am and 12.00pm for children aged 6+ while Enchanted Reef (Kaluoka'hina) takes place at 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm for all ages. Tickets €5.

There will be a Fantastic Fireworks Spectacular at Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Complex at 7.30pm for all ages. Admission is €2 and come dressed up in your best Halloween costume.
