The newly formed Tipperary County Council met in Holycross on Friday 6th June where Fine Gael’s Councillor Michael Fitzgerald was elected the first Chairman.
Commenting on his new position Councillor Fitzgerald said he was privileged and honoured to have been elected as the first Cathaoirleach of the newly unified Tipperary County Council. He went on to say “I look forward to playing my part with management, staff and my fellow elected members in ensuring the success of the new Tipperary County Council”.
The position of Vice Chairman went to local Councillor John Carroll, Kilcoleman, Nenagh.
