Nenagh Eire Og - 27 August 2020

Senior hurling

In the quarter-finals of the FBD Insurance Tipperary senior hurling championship, Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn to play Thurles Sarsfields. This game will take place in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday, 29 August, at 6pm. This is an all-ticket affair, limited to 40 people from our club including players and management, due to Covid-19 restrictions however, it will be streamed live on the County Board’s website.

Junior-A

On Saturday evening last in Ballingarry our junior-A team won their third-round match against Roscrea on a 3-20 to 1-10 scoreline with the goals coming courtesy of Darragh Walsh, Cian O’Farrell and captain Bob O’Brien. This win guarantees the lads their place in the knock out stages of the championship. We send our best wishes to Killian Malone, Bob O’Brien and Anthony Walsh who all picked up knocks in this game.

Junior-C

Our junior-C hurlers opened their championship campaign on Sunday morning with an away clash with Borris-Ileigh and came away 3-21 to 0-6 winners. At half-time, the lads led 0-11 to 0-3 but a powerful second-half display, aided by goals from David Cleary, Conor Malone and Michael Hutchinson secured the win.

Minor Hurling

Commiserations go to our minor hurlers who left everything they had on the field of play on Tuesday evening last against Ballina in the North semi-final, losing out 4-8 to 2-17. All Éire Óg supporters really took this team to their hearts following their brilliant performances this year where work ethic, determination and no end of skill were to the fore. Our thanks go to Shane Connolly, Paul Ryan and Kevin Mulryan for the enormous efforts they put into this side, first-aid man Bartley Ryan and the panel of players who trained and played exceptionally this year. The game created our own little piece of club history as it was the first time we streamed one of our own games live on the internet and we wish to thank Seán McTiernan for providing the live stream, bringing the game to over 1,500 viewers on Facebook Live.

Club Walking Group

Our club walking group recently climbed Moylussa near Killaloe, Co. Clare and had a very enjoyable day out. If you would like to find out more about our walking group you can contact our Healthy Club Officer, Bartley Ryan or contact us through any of our social media channels or email eireognenagh@gmail.com. Everyone is welcome to come along regardless of fitness levels or if you are from Nenagh or not.
