Cillian Boyle of Boyle and Co Garrykennedy and Eliza and Evie Ward of Country Choice on Tour celebrate winning the supreme food award at Electric Picnic in Stradbally this weekend for their Global Green project in collaboration with the Cloughjordan community farm.
The judges for the award from the McKennas guide cited the great taste and quality of the food on the stand. The menu was created by Evie Ward using the raw root vegetables and fruits from the local community farm in Cloughjordan community farm. Cillian and Muireann Boyle created a range of Ice-cream and desserts using Tomatoes, Courgettes and root vegetables including Beetroot brownies. Eliza Ward created the concept and fine tuned it to fit into a fast and competitive food Festival food environment. Global Green is a pivotal and invigorating area in Electric Picnic dedicated to the promotion of sustainable practices.
Speaking after the award Cillian Boyle said this was a great opportunity to showcase all that is good around the Lough Derg in food and Tourism. Eliza Ward stated that the collaboration brings the message of the Cloughjordan community farm produce to a much greater audience. She stated that this was a great opportunity to integrate new and exciting local produce into her existing menus of local Hereford Beef .The project was also documented by Countrywide on RTE radio and broadcast on Saturday from Electric Picnic.
