Leo Enright to give Bernal Lecture for Science Week at Arts Centre

Science Week events at Nenagh Arts Centre which takes place next week, include a presentation from Procter and Gamble on Science in Manufacturing (Monday 11th November at 2 p.m.); a look at DNA and how it used to fight crime with Professor of Forensics at LIT Lucy Moore (Tuesday 12th at 2.30 p.m.) and a screening of Stanley Kubrick’s classic film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ (Wednesday 13th at 8 p.m.). As part of the week and continuing the annual Bernal Lecture (in honour of famed Nenagh-born Scientist John Desmond Bernal) will be a talk from renowned scientific reporter Leo J. Enright. Leo was formerly a news presenter and radio broadcaster on RTÉ and is currently chairman of the Irish Governments science awareness programme Discover Science and Engineering. Leo has been to the forefront of reporting on space exploration for a number of years from shuttle launches to the Mars curiosity rover. Leo will give a lecture on space and discuss the origin of the cells which led to the evolution of man.

This lecture is suitable for all ages and takes place at 8.00 p.m., Tuesday 12th November. Admission is free to this event at the Arts Centre door (in the old Town Hall building, Banba Square). Science Week events at Nenagh Arts Centre are supported by Procter and Gamble.
