Ireland’s Eagle Project Highlighted at Nenagh Arts Centre Lecture

Dr Allan Mee, The Golden Eagle Trust’s White-Tailed Eagle Reintroduction Project Manager will visit Nenagh Arts Centre on Wednesday May 7th to give a short  lecture and discuss the Project at a free event for the public.

The Golden Eagle Reintroduction Project is managed by the Golden Eagle Trust Limited in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service of the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government. The programme looks to reestablish a viable self-sustaining breeding population of golden eagles in north-west Ireland after an absence of almost 100 years.

Manager at the Arts Centre, Brendan Maher said this week: “Unfortunately, one of the first two white-tailed eagles to hatch in Ireland in more than a century was found shot dead in Co. Tipperary in March. This is particularly tragic, given the amount of effort and work that goes into such a project. We’re delighted to get Dr. Allan Mee to the Centre to speak about the project and give the wider public some insight into how it all works. It will be a great opportunity to talk to someone dealing with the project on the ground.”

This event is free to the public and takes place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday 7th May at the Arts Centre in Banba Sqaure
