Earlier this year during the "Call For Input" into the National Volunteering Strategy, Fear of Governance & Regulation came to the fore as a major issue for volunteers and volunteer involving organisations across Tipperary.
We Heard You.
To assist you with addressing that "Fear" we have partnered with our colleagues in the Munster Volunteer Centres and teamed up with Carmichael and Yellow Harbour to endorse and promote the Good Governance Awards 2019.
Tipperary Volunteer Centre believes it is very important that the stories, successes and challenges of small and medium sized community and voluntary groups like yours are recognised, heard and valued. It is also useful that the steps that you are taking to improve your governance processes are acknowledged.
We would like to encourage you to consider applying for the 2019 Good Governance Awards. Entry is free and easy and there are 2 award types that you can apply for.
The Annual Report Award and The Governance Improvement Initiative Award. CLICK HERE for all the details.
So why is Tipperary Volunteer Centre promoting these awards? The answer is we want to make you aware of the processes and procedures that can help improve your organisational governance.
In short if you submit the required documentation for the Annual Report Award it will be judged by the these judges who are key players in the Community and Voluntary Sector. Not only will you be in with a chance to win an award but more importantly the judges will provide you with detailed feedback on steps you can take to improve your annual report. The only cost to you is the time it will take to complete a short application form and send in the relevant documents.
To enter The Governance Improvement Initiative Award you just need to write less than 750 words on how you are improving governance in your organisation.
Groups’ similar in size to yours that entered last year’s Awards highlight the benefits of applying due to the quality of the feedback they received from the Good Governance Awards judges.
The closing date is Friday 13th of September. Please do not hesitate to contact me on derek@volunteertipperary.ie if you would like more detail on the benefits of apply to the Good Governance Awards for your organisation.
