German Film Screens at Arts Centre

German film which depicts the aftermath of war, screens at Nenagh Arts Centre on this Thursday 12th December

Australian director Cate Shortland brings her distinctive style and flair to the German-language film ‘Lore’ which screens at Nenagh Arts Centre this Thursday.

In south-western Germany during the aftermath of World War II, five destitute siblings must travel 900km to their grandmother's home near Hamburg after their high-level Nazi parents disappear in the face of certain arrest by the Allied Forces. Along the way, they encounter a variety of other friends and enemies, before meeting charismatic Thomas, a young Jewish concentration camp survivor, who joins their group and becomes their protector.

15 year –old Lore, one of the five children must try and come to terms with the help being offered from a person from a race she has always been taught to despise. Everything she has believed is now called in to question and she must confront a devastated country and come to terms with both her father's crimes and a nation's guilt.

The film screens at 8pm on Thursday 12th December. Admission is €8
