Funding for Local Festivals

The Arts Council have provided funding for five Tipperary Organisations under Round 2 of the Festivals and Events Scheme. According to Noel Coonan TD “The groups to receive funding for the period to the end of December 2013 include Nenagh Community Arts Festival which will receive €4,000, Cashel Arts Festival €3,500, Dromineer Literary Festival €3,500, Eigse Eatharlai €3,000 and Tipperary Joint Library Committee €1,500. These organisations are very worthy recipients of the funding and every year attract tourists and revenue to Tipperary by showcasing our local talent. This has a positive knock-on effect on our local economy,”.

The Arts Council recognises the distinctive role arts festivals play in sustaining a vibrant arts profile at a local level. Festivals provide opportunities for audiences and artists to experience new work and ways of making work. The Council acknowledges the valuable contribution made by voluntary committees in developing these festivals.

Deputy Coonan added "The Arts Council is the Irish Government agency for the arts. The Council plays an essential role in funding and assisting festivals and events in Tipperary and nationwide and their commitment is ongoing.  In total, €333,959 has been awarded to 79 festivals and events nationwide with an average grant of €4,227 awarded to successful applicants."
