Classic French movie ‘Breathless’ screens at Nenagh Arts Centre
Second in Nenagh Arts Centre’s classic cinema season on Thursday the 17th of October is French film ‘Breathless’ (Au Bout de Souffle), a mainstay of the ‘French New Wave’ from 1960. It tells the offbeat love story between Michel Poiccard, a Humphrey Bogart wannabe and Patricia Franchini, an American who sells newspapers on the boulevards of Paris.

‘Breathless’ was ground -breaking for its time, substituting dramatically staged scenes for documentary style reality, and presenting characters who were flawed and unsure of themselves. However, what ‘Breathless’ lacks in polish it makes up in Gallic charm, and for a film shot in three weeks on a tiny budget, it’s legacy went on to influence some of the top directors of our time, including Quentin Tarantino and Francis Ford Coppola.

Adm. is €8 on the door and the film screens at Nenagh Arts Centre on Thursday, 17th October at 8 p.m.

Wrestling Roadshow set to arrive at Nenagh Arts Centre
After their successful debut in the Arts Centre last June, the American Wrestling Roadshow returns with some high octane action that’s sure to pack an even bigger punch than last time.

Coming off successful tours in France, Spain and the United States, the wrestlers are still nursing a grudge from the last show in Nenagh. A few sucker punches were thrown that night and some of the action went on way outside the ring. Still sporting for a fight, the Roadshow warriors are itching to get back in the ring and sort it out for once and for all.

Come along and cheer on your favourities, but don’t forget, there’s plenty of bad guys and girls ready to keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is a safe, family friendly event and all are welcome. Showtime is 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, the 19th of October. Tickets are €12 from www.nenagharts.com or from the Centre in Banba Square. Advance booking is advised.
