14 Things To Do In & Around Nenagh This Weekend

Boat Trip on Lough Derg Aboard the Ku-Ee-Tu

To raise funds for the Lough Derg RNLI, a boat trip on board the Ku-Ee-Tu will take place from Dromineer to Castlebawn on this Friday July 26th. The boat will depart Dromineer at 2.30pm from the public harbour and will arrive in Castlebawn in Scariff Bay at 3.30pm. There will be a tour of Castlebawn including its history and refreshments will be available before returning to Dromineer at 5.30pm. Tickets can be booked in advance or bought on the day depending on availability.

Ticket Prices: Adults €20, Concession €15, Family of Four €50. Contact Laura on 087 - 7663208.

Lough Derg Yacht Club in Dromineer will host the Mirror Dinghy World Sailing Championships from July 27th to August 2nd 2013.

Cloughjordan FC Dinner Dance

Cloughjordan FC are holding a Dinner Dance in The Abbey Court Hotel on Saturday July 27th from 7.00pm. 1st Ever Dinner Dance, including Player of the Year Awards!

Tickets are €25 each, including Music by Band, followed by DJ. Starter, Choice of Main, Dessert, Tea/Coffee. There will also be a Raffle on the night!

Ruck ‘n’ Roll TAG Festival

A combination of sport, music, food and craic, this is a day that everyone can enjoy! This year’s Ruck ‘n’ Roll Tag Festival, which takes place on Saturday 27th July in Nenagh Ormond RFC from 12.00pm, promises to be even bigger and better than last year. Tag rugby is a social activity that is enjoyed by people from different sporting backgrounds or none at all. With several different sections, all fitness levels are catered for and you do not need to be a rugby expert to play. Teams consist of 12 players, with seven on the pitch at any given time. Teams must also have at least two girls on the pitch at all times and girls receive 3 points for scoring a try compared to 1 point for a try scored by a gentleman.

And the rugby is not the only entertainment on the day! U2 tribute band Rattle & Hum are set to headline, the best U2 tribute band on the planet according to Hot Press. They will be supported by several local bands who will be announced in the next few weeks. The Food Village will be there from morning till late and you can relax between games in our VIP Cocktail Lounge.

Parking is free and there will be a shuttle service back into town later in the night.

Kevin Whelan will be conducting a Historical Walking Tour of Nenagh on Saturday evening July 27th starting at 7.00pm outside the Nenagh Arts Centre.

County Senior Hurling Championship Round 3

Nenagh Éire Óg will play Upperchurch/Drombane in the 3rd Round of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship on Saturday 27th July at 7.30pm in Templemore.

Movies at the Market - The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Nenagh Arts Centre is returning to Limerick’s Milk Market to present ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ on Saturday July 27th at 10.15pm. The film will be presented in the central area of the market, with seating in place. The market will essentially become a cinema for the evening. Food and drink stalls will be open also.

3 Hour Trek at Hazelwood Riding Centre

RNLI Station Open Day

Lough Derg Lifeboat Station in Dromineer will be open to members of the public on Sunday July 28th from 2.30pm to 5.00pm so drop by to meet the crew and have a look at some of the safety equipment and the Lifeboat up close! Great family day with Lifeboat handheld flags and balloons to take home, RNLI merchandise for sale. Raffle prizes to be won, tickets sold on the day. Draw will take place at 5pm.

Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final

The Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final will take place in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Sunday July 28th at 7.00pm. Kildangan will take on Silvermines in this eagerly awaited encounter which will be refereed by Philip Kelly.
