Poland:1962. Anna is a novice, an orphan brought up by nuns in the convent. She has to see Wanda, her only living relative, before she takes her vows. Wanda reveals to Anna that Anna is Jewish. Anna travels into the Polish countryside with her aunt, seeking a connection to the family she never knew, her faith tested in this and other, more earthly ways.
