Preparations are in full swing for the annual Hospice Gathering Fundraiser, which will take place in Reidy’s of Newtown on Saturday night July 6th. To date over 380,000 Euro has been raised from this annual event over the past 12 years.
Get your dancing shoes on as this year the well known Larkin and O’ Connor Families will provide all of the musical entertainment on the night . This talented family combination will stage trad , folk , jazz and all- time party favourite classics, spanning the last four decades and of course including today’s most popular music. You won’t want to get off the dance floor when these musicians ar on stage. Headed up by Brendan & Teresa O Connor - the well known “Who’s the Boss “musical duo who regularly perform all – over Ireland as well as in Playa Blanca & Puerto Del Carmen in the Canary Islands, the couple will be joined on stage by daughter Anna O Connor, a well-established singer in her own right and by their son, singer and guitarist Roddy O’ Connor. Teresa is of course a member of the Larkin family from Garrykennedy, well known as a traditional music family led by their father – the legendary Dan Larkin. Denise Glass, another member of the Larkin family will also perform on the night as well as other family members and friends.
It is important to note that all money raised at Hospice Night 2013 will stay in North Tipperary to help fund vital services of the North Tipperary Hospice Home Care movement including home care specialized beds and equipment at a local level and including the work of the ‘Suaimhneas’ Cancer Support Centre in Nenagh.
With more than one in four Irish people suffering from cancer each year, I’m sure you will agree that this is indeed a very worthy cause, and at a recession price of 15 Euro per ticket (which includes supper), this is a gathering event not to be missed.
We hope to see you at Reidy’s on July 6th from 8.30 p.m. til late - more details to follow in the coming weeks.
