1st School Bands Competition
The Nenagh CBS Band and their committee held their inaugural School Bands Competition on Friday 9th of December in the Scouts Hall in Nenagh. There was huge excitement as almost 150 local primary school pupils arrived with their instruments. Six local national schools participated in this free event showcasing the enormous musical talent in the community. Schools participating included Toomevara NS, Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan, Kildangan NS, Burgess NS, Templederry NS and Lissenhall NS. Each band played 2 pieces to a packed Scouts Hall and to the 2 member independent adjudication panel. Standards were extremely high and the very difficult decision was made by the panel to award the cup to Burgess NS. Every student participating in the competition received a medal. The CBS Concert Band who hosted the event entertained the audience and participants at the beginning and end of the evening. Big congratulations to all who participated and we hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. We would like to thank all the competitors and teachers whose hard work made it such an exciting night. The CBS Concert Band is currently seeking new members to join our community band that is open to boys and girls from 4th class to Leaving Certificate from the wider community. We are a dedicated, enthusiastic youth band who thoroughly enjoys playing music together. Rehearsals and lessons are held on Wed evening in the CBS Primary School hall.
