Restoration of Speech Therapist in North Tipperary

Tipperary Fine Gael Deputy Noel Coonan has welcomed progress being made by the Health Service Executive in their efforts to restore a Speech Therapist for children in North Tipperary.

"I have been lobbying the Health Service Executive for the restoration of a Speech Therapist for children under 6 to North Tipperary. In response, the HSE has informed me that a Speech Therapist has accepted the offer of this post. Currently the National Recruitment Service are processing clearances/references and this should be completed within the next two to three weeks. A start date will then be agreed," explained Deputy Coonan.

"The post has been vacant for a number of months which has caused anxiety among many Tipperary families who need the valuable service. Speech therapy is vital for building confidence and improving communication for children with speech impediments. It leads to greater self-esteem and quality of life. I am glad the HSE is making progress on the matter," concluded Deputy Coonan.
