Rainbows Wanted for 16th Terryglass Arts Festival

Renowned visual artist Joy Gerrard has been commissioned to create a series of artworks for Terryglass Quay for the 16th Terryglass Arts Festival from 13th - 17th August. A graduate of the National College of Art in Dublin, Joy has postgraduate degrees from the Royal College of Art in London and has exhibited internationally.

Born locally in Coolbawn, Co. Tipperary, Joy has chosen ‘rainbows’ as the theme of her commission and is looking for members of the public to send her images of rainbows on or near Lough Derg.

Joy plans to include the images in a small publication that will be part of the exhibition in Terryglass.  All images that are printed in the publication will be acknowledged.

Please email any rainbow images on or near Lough Derg to joygerrard@outlook.com before Friday 1st August.

Joy is no stranger to Co. Tipperary and has recently been commissioned to install a major public art sculpture in Borrisokane Community College.

Festival chairperson Andrea Egan said she was really looking forward to seeing the visual art collaboration with Joy and members of the public.

“Joy is an artist of international acclaim and has exhibited in Dublin, Cork and London as well as in galleries in Finland and the USA. It is a tremendous honour to have Joy with us for the festival and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing this commission”.

The Terryglass Arts Festival takes place from August 13th - 17th. For a full programme please log on to www.terryglassartsfestival.ie
