Nenagh Walking Club - Aonach Ar Siúl 15/08/2016

Members please note the following upcoming walks.

19th August, Thursday's easy level walk which is suitable for beginners, will do some of the Lough Derg way. Meet at Reidy's Newtown at 7.

There are only a few Thursday evening walks remaining so don't leave it any longer to join and sample these lovely walks. Contact Maura at 086 8360621.

Tuesday August 23rd, the club will do a hike to the Millennium Cross leaving Spar Shop Portroe at 7.15pm. Contact Paddy 086 8562444 or Mary 087 9735164. When you reach the summit, get ready to see breathtaking views of Lough Derg.

The next Sunday walk will take place August 21st  where we will take on the  11km Ballyhoura Black Rock loop. Firstly we will ascend Seefin mountain which offers a view stretching to all counties of Munster on a clear day. Then  pass by the unusual Blackrock formation and descend through forest roads where some  of Coillte's wooden fitness challenges might be attempted if energy levels allow. We will then pass over a footbridge at the waterfall leading to the nature trail with many interesting interpretative signboards for the local flora and fauna. The route then leads to the renowned  Ballyhoura  mountain bikes trails centre where toilets and refreshments are available. The walk ends at the quaint little village of Glenosheen. Duration 2.5 - 3 hrs.  Definitely a walk that is not to be missed.  Leaving Kenyon St car park at 11am. Leader John Kennedy 087 2744685.

After that the next outing will be our trip to Kerry  9/10/11th September to Cahersiveen and other upcoming walks in Kilcommon and the Galtees to look forward to.

The club hosts a variety of walks throughout the year to suit all level of fitness from the beginner to the experienced walker.

Watch out for some Sunday 'C' walks which will be posted on the webpage.  Non-members are welcome to do 3 walks before joining the club.  Membership is €45 which includes membership of Mountaineering Ireland.   Please refer to our web page under nenaghwalk.ie and facebook page for further details on upcoming walks.
