Nenagh Neptune Notes 09/10/2017

Successful Nenagh Invitational Gala.

A record entry of 360 swimmers representing 10 swimming clubs in Limerick, Askeaton, Lahinch, Thurles, Portlaoise, Tipperary, Carrick, Clonmel, Cork and Tralee joined the Nenagh Neptune swimmers for our club invitational gala last Saturday. And what a day’s swimming racing we had.

Reflecting the positive attitude to training since the beginning of the season, our Nenagh swimmers performed very creditably with a large number of Personal Best’s (PB’s) being achieved as well as medals won.

We also had a number of swimmers performing in their first gala so well done to Robert Duggan, Ronan Fitzpatrick, Blake Byrne, Tom Kirby, Thomas Ryan, Tabitha Larke, Ali O’Brien, Aoise Wycherley, Ava Kelly, Megan Dooley and Jack Minehan who swam really well in their races.

Nenagh Neptune would like to thank Tom Mackey and the lifeguarding staff at Nenagh Leisure Centre who helped to make the event run smoothly. And also to our coaches and parents who worked so hard during the day.

Guinness World Record Entry

Congratulations to our swimmer Shane McAteer who participated in the Swim Ireland world record relay event in Abbotstown last Friday night. 100 young Irish swimmers swam a relay event of 50 metres each (100 x 50) setting a new world record for this distance. Something to be very proud of.
