Nenagh Éire Óg Weekly Notes

For a full match report on this game please see the club website. The draw for the semi-finals of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship is expected to take place on Monday evening. The semi-finalists are: Nenagh Éire Óg, Thurles Sarsfields, Drom & Inch and Kilruane MacDonagh’s. Please keep an eye on the club website and the respective social media channels for updates. The semi-finals are scheduled to take place on the week-ending Sunday, October 11th in Semple Stadium, Thurles.

Under-21A: The under-21A hurling team will face Roscrea in the opening round of this year’s championship. The fixtures schedule for that competition have not been released as of yet. This year the under-21A hurling team will be managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris and Michael McNamara. The 2015 Walsh’s of Nenagh North Tipperary Under-21A Hurling Championship will be run on a knock-out-loser’s-group system. Éire Óg have been drawn against Roscrea in the opening round. Kilruane MacDonagh’s will face Ballina in a preliminary round game while the remaining first round games will see Kildangan face the winner of the Kilruane versus Ballina game and Toomevara take on Newport Gaels.

Score4Eddie: In 1993 Nenagh Éire Óg and Aherlow faced off in the county under-21 football final in what has probably become one of the most famous county finals ever played, not because of the quality of football on show, but due to the expert commentary of “Effin” Eddie Moroney. Last week members of both teams reunited for the brilliant Score4Eddie cause, a fundraising campaign established by the friends and family of the late Eddie Connolly from Loughmore-Castleiney. Eddie Connolly was a fantastic sportsman who represented his club and county with distinction in both hurling and football. The club is encouraging all our friends, members, supporters and players to text MATCH to 50300 and donate four euro to this fabulous cause. Please click here to see representatives of the 1993 Nenagh Éire Óg and Aherlow teams Score4Eddie.

Lotto: Last week’s lotto jackpot of €3,600 was not won. €50 luck dip winners were: Michael Hegarty (c/o Nenagh Guardian), Shane Spillane (Richmond), Jim Sullivan (Annbrook), Kieran Duffy (Birr Road) & Rose McMahon (c/o Madden’s). Please support the Blues and play our club lotto.
