Nenagh Éire Óg Weekly Notes

Senior: Nenagh Éire Óg’s next match in the county senior hurling championship against Ballina is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 4th in Newport at 6.30pm. This is an important game following the defeat suffered at the hands of Templederry and the lads would appreciate your support. Please note that the Blues’ final group game against Clonoulty-Rossmore is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 10th in The Ragg at 6.30pm. The first round of the Hibernian North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship is also scheduled to take place during the coming weeks, potentially on the week-ending May 17th. Éire Óg have been drawn against Toomevara.

Junior A: The junior A team return to league action on Friday, May 1st when Nenagh Éire Óg host Toomevara in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh at 7pm. Éire Óg lost their opening league game against Roscrea and would appreciate your support for this encounter.

Junior B: On Sunday, May 3rd the Nenagh Éire Óg junior B hurlers will pay a visit to St Michael’s Park in Toomevara to take on the Greyhounds in a league encounter at 12 noon. The lads have battled gamely throughout this campaign and would really appreciate your support for this contest.

Congratulations: Well done to Tommy Heffernan who has been named on the 2015 Rising Stars team of the year. The ‘Rising Stars’ is an All Star selection for third level colleges players. Tommy Heffernan has been rewarded for his outstanding form on the University of Limerick team which won the Fitzgibbon Cup. Minor A: The Nenagh Éire Óg minor footballers finished second in their group and will play Kildangan in a north Tipperary minor A football championship semi-final on Wednesday, April 29th in Puckane at 7pm. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. In their corresponding semi-final Newport Gaels will play Ballina.

Tipp GAA Draw: The North Tipperary launch of the Tipp GAA Draw took place in the Nenagh Éire Óg complex at MacDonagh Park on Wednesday, April 22nd. For the past twenty-seven years the Tipperary GAA Draw has served the clubs and the people of Tipperary well. A unique Nenagh Éire Óg branded brochure has been produced to promote this year’s draw. The Tipperary GAA Draw features an extraordinary €500,000 prize fund. And, don’t forget that your club, Nenagh Éire Óg, benefits significantly from contributions to the Tipperary GAA Draw. Indeed, the draw committee has introduced major increases in commission for the coming year. The Blues 10K: The Blues 10K & Fun Run/Walk will return to the streets of Nenagh on Sunday, June 14th (10.30am). The event will be hosted this year in aid of the North Tipperary Hospice. Entry to the 10K run is priced at €15 (€12 pre-registered online), entry to the 5K run is priced at €10 and entry to the 5K for walkers is priced at €5 per family. Prizes: €100 for the first-placed male and female competitor in the 10K, €50 for the second-placed male and female and €25 for the third-placed male and female competitors. There will also be a series of spot prizes for runners and walkers. Please contact Shane Connolly 087 637 3830 for further information.
