Nenagh Éire Óg - Club Notes 14/12/2015

Nenagh Éire Óg Weekly Notes

Under-21A: Greg Browne’s under-21A hurling team were expected to be in semi-final action against Toomevara on Sunday, but that contest was postponed due to an unplayable pitch following a deluge of rain. That semi-final fixture will be re-fixed in due course - please keep an eye on the club website and respective social media channels for updates. The winners of the quarter-final clash between Newport Gaels and Roscrea will play defending champions Kildangan in their respective semi-final. This year the under-21A hurling team is managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris and Michael McNamara.

Congratulations: Everyone associated with Nenagh Éire Óg would like to congratulate Barry Heffernan, Dáire Quinn and Andrew Coffey - all three players have been named on Michael Ryan's Tipperary senior hurling panel for the 2016 campaign. A huge well done also goes out to Aidan Healy who featured for the Limerick Institute of Technology team which won the Freshers All-Ireland Higher Education Division One League recently. In the final LIT beat DCU 0-20 to 2-8 - well done Aidan!

AGM: The Nenagh Éire Óg Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 8pm in the MacDonagh Park Complex.

Lotto: Last week’s lotto jackpot of €1,100 was not won. The club hosted the annual special Christmas draw - the ten €50 lucky dip prize winners (in addition to the normal five lucky dip winners) were: Ann Kelly (Moanfin), Sadie Callinan (Melrose), Noel Hassett (Benedine), James Cullen (St Joseph’s Park), John Gavin (Borrisokane), Amanda Kelly (Ballygraigue), Trish Maher (Richmond), Michael O’Brien, Linda Sheehan (Carrig Rua), Nora Coffey (Ballycommon), Pascal Nolan (Ciamalta Road), Sheena Parker (Kilnasallagh), Ciarán Morris (c/o HiB), Frances Gleeson (c/o Eamonn Brennan) & Pakie Devaney (Annebrook). Please support the Blues and play our club lotto.

Sympathy: Everyone associated with the Nenagh Éire Óg club would like to offer their sympathies to the family and friends of Richard Flanagan who passed away in Birr last week - Richard was the father-in-law of club chairman Jim Nagle. The club would also like to offer its sympathy to the family and friends of Josie O’Shea who passed away recently. Josie O’Shea, formerly of Carrig (Ballycommon), was a sister of club president Ger Gavin.
