Stage 2 of the An Post Rás reached a dramatic climax in Nenagh on Monday 20th May with a sprint finish resulting in a win for Shane Archbold of the Sean Kelly An Post Chain Reaction team. In scenes reminisicient of the Visit Nenagh Classic large crowds gathered on the streets to cheer on the cyclists in Ireland's biggest cycling race.
On Tuesday morning the cyclists were led down Pearse Street by St. Mary's Convent Primary School Marching Band before setting off on Stage 3 to Listowel.
The Rás accommodation officer Eddie Dawson predicted that the event generated as much as €100,000 for the local economy during its overnight stay in Nenagh.
