CELEBRATIONS TO MARK 150 YEARS OF THE RAILWAY TO NENAGH
Minister of State with responsibility for Public and Commuter Transport, Alan Kelly T.D will be at Nenagh Railway Station next Saturday 12th October to celebrate 150 years of the railway between Nenagh and Roscrea.
The Minister will be joined by Mayor of Nenagh, Cllr. Jimmy Moran, Commercial Director of Iarnród Éireann, Gerry Culligan and members of the Nenagh Rail partnership including Cllr. Virginia O’Dowd. A specially commissioned bronze plaque will be unveiled to mark the occasion.
Entertainment will be provided by Jazz musicians and members of Nenagh Players will be in Period Costume for added colour. An antique water column that was once used to water steam engines will also be unveiled in the car park of the station on the day.
Nenagh Rail Partnership will be running a free road train around Nenagh for the day which promises to be great fun for young and old alike. All are welcome at Nenagh Station on Saturday 12th October next from 12 noon.
