NTSP are running Garda Vetting Information Workshop on June 25th in Brickfields Nenagh from 7pm to 9pm. New legislation now requires that Under the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012, all sport club members i.e. coaches, trainers, mentors etc… who provide sports activities to children and persons who are in direct contact with children or vulnerable persons on an on-going and regular basis need to be vetted.
Once the Act commences it will be a legal requirement for individuals to complete the Garda Vetting process.
To assist clubs in understanding the requirements placed upon them by this new Act, North Tipperary LSP have organised a 2 hour information workshop for sports clubs and organisations. A trained Irish Sports Council tutor will outline the procedures sports clubs are required to take to ensure all appropriate volunteers and coaches are vetted, and to address any questions or concerns that may exist. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will have a greater understanding of how to manage the reference checking process including Garda Vetting for volunteers.
